The following graphs
were compiled and built by CFR for a presentation on the Afghanistan
security situation following a research trip to Bagram, Kabul and
Kandahar in November 2005. At the time, suicide bombings, which have
had relatively little use in Afghanistan, seemed to be on the rise.
In fact, the day CFR arrived in Kabul from Bagram two suicide bombs
were detonated against a German ISAF patrol on the Jalalabad Road.
The same day a US National Security Agency vehicle was also struck
in Kandahar injuring four (It was reported as an NGO vehicle).
