This print depicts a traditional Chinese wedding. The style of using four panels to illustrate a story is a centuries-old Chinese artistic convention and is often employed in representations of historical stories or customs. It demonstrates the return to traditional customs and practices banned during the Cultural Revolution, both in daily life and in the art that was produced beginning in the late 1970s.
