Great agricultural achievements, such as irrigation in Yan’an under the leadership of the Communist Party, is a constant theme. Local peasants, identified by the traditional white headdress, are reciting the improvements in their lives under the communists to urban intellectual youth sent to the countryside to be rusticated.
