"Study Painting of 8th Route Army Soldier for Naniwan"
1960
oil on magazine paper, 10 1/4” x 13”
In 1959 Jin was sent to Shaanxi Province to paint a piece entitled
Nanniwan, depicting the 8th Route Army opening up the territory of
Nanniwan, a reclamation project with the peasants to clear the land
and make it productive to support the people and the army. There are
only a handful of Nanniwan study paintings that still exist. This
study was painted on a page in a magazine. Notice the magazine text
bleeding through the painting in the lower right hand corner. |
