woodcut, 25 1/2" x 17 1/2"
A depiction of Lu Xun, China’s most influential modern writer,
who promoted the revival of woodblock prints as a traditional Chinese
art form useful for political art because of its simple and direct
style. The art academy established in Yan’an by the Communist
Party in the 1940s was named in honor of Lu Xun.
