SONG
RUXIN
(b. 1946) Yan'an, China
"Grandma’s Heart" 1975
woodcut, 20 3/4"” x 18 3/8"”
Produced during the early years of the revival of woodblock print
art toward the end of the Cultural Revolution, this print illustrates
the local people’s devotion to the “sent down” intellectual
youth and the younger generation’s affection for the older generation.
The model used in this woodcut also appears in Jin’s oil painting
Intellectual Youth from Beijing in Yan’an produced the same
year. |
