ZHILIN (b. 1928) Beijing, China "Yan’an Pagoda in the Glowing Clouds" 1975 oil on cardboard, 10 1/2" x 14 1/2" Jin described his heartfelt affection for Yan’an saying, “My heart belonged to Yan’an. I was moved to tears when I saw the Yan’an pagoda.” The style is impressionistic, demonstrating the relaxation of the requirement to adopt a socialist idealism or revolutionary romanticism style mandated during the Cultural Revolution. |
