"A Field After Harvest" 1955
oil on wood, 8" x 13 3/8"
Painted at a Hebei collective farm during the agriculture collectivization
campaign. Jin was sent to document the implementation of this important
agricultural policy referred to as “socialist transformation,”
when China was making a transition from privately owned farms to
larger collectively managed agricultural enterprises before the
more radical establishment of people’s communes that began
in 1957.
