CFR IN THE PRESS : Taxi to the Dark Side wins 2008 Oscar for best documentary.

2008 was a good year for films featuring CFR footage.  Both Taxi to the Dark Side and Operation Homecoming were nominated for Oscars in the best documentary feature category.  The winner, Taxi to the Dark Side, utilized CFR’s extensive archive of Afghanistan footage to help bring to light the story of Dilawar, a taxi driver who was detained in Afghanistan in 2002 and who died in American custody at the prison in Bagram few months later. Operation Homecoming also featured footage of the Iraq war from the CFR archive.  Combat Films archival footage was also used in Gonzo: The Life of Hunter S. Thompson, which premiered at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival.
